Studio Zoom Nights
This is a casual setting designed for students to play/sing for their peers. Participating students choose a song with me at lessons to share. We will take turns during the event un-muting our mics and performing our songs for each other. Students will then be encouraged to use the “chat” feature to give positive feedback on other student’s work or raise hands to comment after a piece is finished (time allowing).
As always, students are also welcomed to join the event just to listen in!
- Build confidence performing and speaking to a group
- Try out your pieces in front of a supportive, friendly audience
- Grow community and make friends with other musicians
- Learn from more experienced performers and encourage those just starting out
Best Practices
1.Songs chosen must be ones that we have worked on and approved in lessons for performing. All ages and levels welcome.
2. Make sure your device is charged and connected to WiFi/data. I recommend leaving it plugged in during the session.
3. If you’re using an accompaniment track (singers) have it pulled up on a separate device
4. Find a place to set up your camera device. Ideally, for singers it should allow me to see your whole upper torso standing up and pianists to see your face and fingers on the keys. Use a common area of your home (or outside!). No bedrooms, bathrooms, or private areas of your home please.
5. No personal recordings or screenshots. A group “photo” will probably be taken in the beginning
6. Parents are welcome, but this is not a public performance event. Studio Zoom Nights are designed for community, team building, and risk taking so we ask only studio members and their households attend.
